I Tested Clickbait Shorts

In this video, Sambucha tests a variety of viral short-form videos to determine if they are genuine life hacks or merely examples of clickbait/editing tricks. Throughout the video, he performs hands-on experiments to verify the claims.

Tested Hacks & Results:

  • Drill & Water Balloon: (0:26 - 2:43) Works. Spinning a water balloon with a drill creates unique shapes without the balloon bursting.
  • Powerful Nerf Mod: (2:45 - 5:26) Works. Adding rubber bands increases the tension and power of the blaster, allowing it to dent a soda can.
  • Plastic Bottle Faucet: (5:28 - 6:40) Works. Poking holes in a bottle and loosening the cap creates a controlled water flow.
  • Brita Filter Test: (6:41 - 9:03) Works (sort of). It filters color and sugar/alcohol from drinks like wine and soda, resulting in "flavored water."
  • DIY Hologram: (9:05 - 10:13) Works. Placing clear film at a 45-degree angle on a phone creates a hologram effect.
  • Slime Making: (10:14 - 12:35) Mixed. The suggested mixture of shampoo, dish soap, and salt didn't quite form perfect slime, though it became somewhat viscous.
  • Burning Paper with Steel Balls: (12:37 - 14:02) Works. Clashing steel balls together generates enough heat to burn a hole in paper.
  • Spoon & Rope Pouring: (14:03 - 15:52) Works. Using a metal spoon or a string creates a mess-free liquid transfer method.
  • Floating Marker Art: (15:53 - 17:17) Works. Dry erase markers on a spoon can float on water.
  • Opening a Can with a Pen: (17:18 - 19:12) Works. Rubbing the side of a can with a pen can help open it.
  • Making Apple Juice: (19:13 - 21:43) Works. Freezing and thawing an apple allows you to easily squeeze out fresh juice.
  • Painting Lightbulbs: (21:44 - 24:00) Works. Painting lightbulbs with nail polish changes the color or dims the light.
  • Egg Scrambling Devices: (24:01 - 27:38) Clickbait. Neither the Chinese spinning device, hand-shaking, nor the drill-sock method successfully scrambled a hard-boiled egg.
  • Making Cornflakes: (27:39 - 28:48) Clickbait. Hammering corn kernels does not produce cornflakes.
  • Honey Purity Test: (28:49 - 31:08) Works. Adding water to honey and shaking it reveals a honeycomb pattern in real honey.
  • Slushie Cup: (31:09 - 33:15) Works. A frozen silicone cup can effectively turn liquid into a slushie.
  • Chocolate Hand Mold: (33:16 - 35:46) Clickbait. Chocolate does not harden into a mold on a warm hand.
  • Microwaved Sour Patch Kids: (35:47 - 37:48) Clickbait. They simply melt into a liquid; they do not expand.
  • Peeling Apple in a Jar: (37:49 - 38:57) Clickbait. The apple remained intact.
  • Opening a Lock with Magnets: (38:58 - 39:55) Clickbait. Magnets did not open the lock.
  • Cutting a Bottle with a Knife: (39:56 - 42:11) Clickbait. It does not result in a clean cut as shown.
  • Automatic Garlic Peeler: (42:12 - 45:05) Mixed. Works well for items like cherry tomatoes, but struggles with garlic cloves.
  • Wine Cork Rescue: (45:06 - 46:43) Clickbait. The plastic bag method failed to remove the cork.
